About the Crafters

Recently retired from careers in the telecommunications industry, where they met and married thirty some odd years ago, Shirley and Don have now begun a life-long dream to make and sell hand crafted items at reasonable prices.

Shirley has been crocheting and sewing since a child, and about ten years ago took up quilting. Don began woodworking under the watchful eyes of both grandfathers, who noticed his interest and provided him with his first set of tools. Both found their hobbies rewarding and peaceful as relief from technical jobs.

Together, they enjoy working in their small shops, Shirley making articles such as shawls, baby bibs and pillows, pot holders and aprons (many with holiday themes), while Don crafts hand turned wine bottle stoppers, key chains, pens, Shaker boxes for jewelry, mementos or display and various wooden bowls. Over the years, the house and friends have accumulated a healthy supply of quilts, afghans, and custom furniture.

Each pays particular attention to the details and quality of each hand made item, creating unique, heirloom products for everyday use, display or as gifts.

Both Shirley and Don enjoy volunteer work at the local firehouse and for conservation organizations.

Use of Woods

All woods used in the making of our crafts are purchased through responsible organizations committed to ensure the conservation, preservation and restoration of our earth’s natural resources.
Many species are usually available, but sometimes these organizations are not able to procure supplies of certain species according to their strict practices. When the certified supplies are not available for a particular species through these organizations, we will recommend alternative woods.
